FibroScan® Promotion

What is FibroScan® Test?

FibroScan® is the gold standard solution for comprehensive management of liver health. It is a quick and safe specialised ultrasound-based technology that measures the stiffness of the liver. This measurement helps in determining the degree of scarring (fibrosis) present in the liver, which is important for diagnosing and monitoring liver diseases.

Who should consider FibroScan®?

This scan is recommended to all but especially to individuals with:

  • Fatty liver
  • Hepatitis B or C
  • Excessive alcohol intake
  • Obesity, diabetes, or high cholesterol
  • Family history of liver disease

How does a FibroScan® function?

  1. Ultrasound probe placement: You will lie on your back, and a probe is placed on the right side of your abdomen over the liver area.
  2. Pulse vibration: The probe emits a low-frequency vibration (a mechanical pulse) into the liver.
  3. Ultrasound wave: This vibration generates an elastic shear wave that travels through the liver tissue.
  4. Wave speed measurement: The device measures how fast the wave moves through the liver.
    - The faster the wave, the stiffer the liver — indicating more fibrosis or scarring.

How do I prepare for my FibroScan®?

  1. On the day of your procedure, you are required to fast at least 3 hours before your scan.
  2. You should wear comfortable clothes (e.g. shirt, loose dress) that can be moved / repositioned to allow the ease to examine your right upper abdomen.

FibroScan® is a key tool for early detection and monitoring of liver conditions, helping patients take proactive steps toward better liver health. The scan typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. If you are at risk, you are encouraged to get checked for early detection and ensure timely treatment.
