Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infection and if left untreated, can lead to cervical cancer, throat cancer and other genital cancers. High-risk HPV subtypes alone (HPV-16 and HPV -18) have been identified to be the cause of at least 70% of cervical cancer (World Health Organization, 2019). The HPV vaccine (Gardasil-9) can help protect against 9 HPV types (6,11,16,18,31,33,45,52 and 58). Both males and females from age 9 to 45 are recommended to take the vaccine.
